Rocking Around the Christmas Tree
Christmas time is upon us and I have been busy with my Christmas preparations. The decorations and tree were purchased at the beginning of December and I had much fun decorating and adorning its branches with shiny, glittery baubles and dancing Christmas tree lights. Tikka my cat looked on with what could be mistaken as badly concealed boredom but as this is my fourth Christmas with him I know not to be fooled by his apparent lack of interest!
Tikka adores the distractions of the festive season and his kitteny side really comes out in full display at this time of year. His main focus is the Christmas tree and like a magpie he is magnetised towards the baubles twinkling and beckoning to him from their perches. From a cat’s perspective how can you blame him? Cats love anything that dangles and glitters so your Christmas tree decorations will be a prime target!
You will be glad to know that there are cat proof baubles available as the glass kind will not see out the 12 days of Christmas if you have a feline resident. Plastic ones are best and will survive being batted down and pounced upon.
If you have a kitten be extra careful as Tikka did have a penchant for shimmying up the centre of the tree in his early years and causing it to topple over!
