Register Your Pet with the Petlog Database
Losing one of your pet can be terribly upsetting and stressful but with dogs and especially cats there is always that possibility. The press has also been full of stories about distraught dog owners who have experienced dog theft. Following a week’s holiday my cat Tabitha went missing. I had registered her with the Petlog database and when I returned there was a message for me. Sadly Tabitha had been knocked down and a kindly passerby had noticed her tag and contacted the Petlog number to let them know. Although it was a very sad outcome for me at least I knew what had happened to her.
On a happier note the RSPCA carry out much work on reuniting a large percentage of the 250,000 dogs and cats that go missing on a yearly basis. One of the best ways you can make sure you are quickly reunited with your furry friend is to have them micro chipped. It’s a quick process that is carried out with your vet although I must admit that the size of the needle did make me wince!
The microchip stores a unique reference number that identifies the pet as yours. The number is registered with the Petlog database along with yours and your pet’s details. If your pet is lost and is spotted by the police or a rescue organisation they will scan the animal and then contact you.

My cat is microchipped but the details on the database relating to the address and owner are out of date. I’m having real difficulties finding where to update the details or even a phone number I can call for advice. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
