Petowners Not Buying EU Pet Passports

Posted by: John  :  Category: General

A holiday lettings website based in the UK called holidaylettings.co.uk has just released the findings of a customer survey carried out this year.  The results of the survey revealed that a mere 6% of British pet owners who regularly travel to their holiday destination abroad have bought an EU Pet Passport for there furry friend.

Taking pets on holidays abroad still seems to be something most pet owners won’t consider with the vast majority of pet owners choosing to leave their pets in the care of a friend or housesitter.  28% still opt to house their pets at a kennels or cattery while they holiday.

Holidaylettings also highlights that one fifth of holiday homes are now pet friendly.  These are privately owned that offer short term rentals including holidays homes located in Spain, Italy, France and the UK.

The MD of Holidaylettings, Ross Elder said:

“It tends to be property owners who have or like pets that welcome them into their holiday home, but a simple set of rules for guests such as no pets in the bedrooms and pet food or treats only to be eaten in the kitchen or outside, will ensure that guests and their pets respect your property.”
