Nick the Pet Sheep

Now here’s an unusual pet for you – a twenty-two stone sheep who lives with a family in Cardiff.  His favourite pastime is chilling out in the lounge watching TV and nibbling on biscuits.
David Palmer, formerly a coach driver, rescued the sheep a few years ago when Nick Boing, as he known, was only a wee nipper.

On a trip to a nature reserve the family came across the sick lamb in the grass.  David recalls:

“There were no other sheep about so we picked him up.  I didn’t know anything about sheep so I took him to the nearest farm and left my name, but nobody contacted me and he came with us.  Caroline had a baby bottle left from when Nathan was little so we fed him some milk and within an hour he was running around.”

On two occasions the family tried to settle the sheep into a farm environment but he wouldn’t go near the rest of the sheep.  He’s now happily settled in his own sheep-style bungalow complete with carpets and windows which stands in the back garden.

However the super-sized ram prefers to snuggle up on the couch with the family.  Nick’s TV sit-in are brought to close each evening at around 11pm and he is gently lured back to his bungalow with the promise of an apple or swede.

David said:

“He’s part of the family.  He’s more intelligent than your average sheep that’s stuck in a field. He’s in the house and in the car and meeting people. He’s good company and he knows what’s what.”
