Doggie Holidays
This weekend I’m going to a wedding and will be away all weekend. Unfortunately by the time the invites came out it was too late for us to get them booked into a kennels. Secretly I was relieved as I’m always a bit worried about how the dogs will take to being caged up for a couple of days with the noise of other anxious dogs barking and yapping around them.
However it still remained that we had to get the dogs booked in some where. Whilst surfing the internet I came across a company called Barking Mad. The company house dogs in people’s homes rather than board them in kennels. The dog sitters are people who have had dogs in the past – so have plenty of experience with dogs – and now enjoy looking after pooches for a limited period.
Steve, the guy that runs it in the north west came over to see me and the dogs, Harvey, a two year old Basset Hound and Tashi, a 16 month old Shih Tzu. While they played and ran amuck around the living room I filled out a few forms about their personalities, their preference for walks in the countryside and their food habits. Steve was so taken with my mischievous pair that he decided he and his wife would have them for the weekend.
They get picked up and dropped off and while they are away they get fitted with a tag saying ‘I’m on my holidays with Barking Mad’! And it’s only marginally more expensive than normal kennels. I let you know if Steve survives the weekend!
