Does Your Pooch have Dog Breath?
Dogs are notorious for have less than pleasant smelling breath. As they loving look into your eyes and panting away after a run around the garden you’d be forgiven for wrinkling your nose as he breathes all over you. There are various ailments that can be indicated by bad breath such as gingivitis, decaying or infected teeth, periodontitis, a trapped foreign body such as a twig or stone caught in the teeth, ulceration and in extreme cases lung cancer. If the bad breath is accompanied by drooling, bleeding from the mouth, discharge, a difficulty in swallowing food or moodiness then get to the vet immediately.
Keep an eye on the oral health of your dog by checking his mouth and teeth often. There are many products on the market now to keep the teeth and gums healthy such as toothpastes and dental chews so ensure dental health is part of your care regime for the dog.
