Amazons originate mainly from rainforests in South America. They are best known for their brilliant green colour. Differing species of Amazon sport differing front head colours such as Blue fronted, Double Yellow head and Orange winged. They have a strong personality and are not for amateurs. They respond well to training and often bond with one person.

Hamsters
The Syrian hamster is a lovely family pet, being both easy to care for and with regular attention they can become tame very quickly. Hamsters are great pets for both children and adults alike but they are nocturnal creatures sleeping most of the day so I wouldn’t recommend you keeping them in a bedroom. On average they live up to 2.5 years.

Cats
Cats are notoriously difficult to train however it is possible to discourage any anti-social behaviour and to get them used to a set routine as kittens. The first thing you need to do is to handle you kitten as much as possible. Touch their ears, mouth, teeth and comb or brush their coat to get them used to contact.

Originally Chinchillas were found in the high mountainous regions of South America. To cope with the extreme weather conditions of their territory they evolved to produce their rich silky coat. In captivity they were initially bred for their fur but later become extremely popular as a pet.

Dogs
If you’re planning on adding a puppy to your household you’ll need to puppy proof your house in advance. Puppies are mischievous, curious creatures and will explore every inch of your home with their nose and mouth. Approach it in the same way you would if preparing for a toddler coming to stay and you won’t go far wrong. Anything at ground level you can pick up is going to end up straight in the puppy’s mouth. Particular favourites are shoes, papers and socks! On a serious note, watch out for electricity cables and wires. One nibble of a wire and you could have a dead puppy on your hands.
